new year has a lot of meaning this time around

Okay, it’s been a while since my last post, heck, my previous post was done last year!! (Not really literally though). With lots of things on my hands and more still to come, it’s really hard to find a sweet time to write something these days.

The title of this note says it all. Let me tell you why. Here are the “new” things in my life in the year of 2009:

1. As you all might have known, I’ve been blessed with a daughter (new child). Her name is Callula Inara Febriajie. The name is final since I already got the birth cert made for her and that name is what’s written on it.

2. Starting next Wednesday, I’ll be working as Credit Risk Control Manager (new job) and will be placed at Standard Chartered Bank Tampines (new office – including new boss, new colleagues and new desk).

3. I installed Windows 7 (new OS) on my laptop. It’s faster, it has more animations and more savvy ways of doing things; not to mention it has Windows Live Writer which I am currently using to write this blog. Windows 7 offers a cleaner interface, cleaner desktop, faster performance and a lot more, but personally, I think Apple’s OS still wins.

4. Sold my Blackberry and got a couple of cool iPhones for me and my dearest wife (new phones and new lines). iPhone is really so much more fun than BB. My wife’s really happy with this phone. I promised her that I’d get a new phone for her in January ‘09. For almost half a year she had been stuck with an old Motorola phone which I got for free when I used to work there. So honey, enjoy it. Thanks for your patience, you deserve it =) [By the way, her number is different now (91721486), mine’s still the same]

Well, the list keeps on going and going and going… To sum it all up, it’s been a great start and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for me.

One more thing, please say your prayers for my “CFA” friends who are going to receive their exam results next week. I sincerely hope that all of them make it and they could join me for the next ride to a steeper hill.

Happy new year everyone!

tick.. tock.. tick.. tock..

Our newest star of the house is still dwelling in mummy's tummy. This stream of anticipation keeps on getting me on the edge. "Is today the day? Will it be tomorrow? What if it happens tonight? Where did i put my phone? Have I packed the baby stuff? Will the taxi come quickly? Will the taxi driver panic? Can I leave my work behind? What if somebody really needs me at office?................", these are just some of the things going through my mind right now.

Good thing there's Survivor finale going on, it helps me to keep both my focus and my cool. I was actually thinking of writing something about CFA related stuff. Perhaps, I might use this blog to express my thought process when studying the level 1 & 2 curriculum, to share the things that I didn't understand at first and how I finally managed to put the pieces together (at least for level 1). But this would make my blog quite boring so maybe next time.

An update for ex-Agasi (Anak Gaul Singapura) out there: our group has just gone bigger. We have a lot of new faces and we have a new activity called "Board Game Night". I don't wanna brag about it. You guys just have to visit us or come back and live here to find out =P..... Sorry guys, but my wife really misses you all and hopes that you all will be back here someday.

Do say your prayers for my wife and here's a piece of John Mayer's song that has been her favorite since long time ago:
"So fathers be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers, who turn into mothers
So mothers be good to your daughter too"

after the finish line

Yup, I did it. It was tough but the thought of my wife laughing at me for not making it to the finish line kept me going. According to my nike+, I finished in 1:38:40. Not something that I could be proud of but at least I got a medal for completing the run.

My feet were in so much pain when I reached my house. I immediately soaked them in salted hot water. "It's a recipe from a magazine", my mum-in-law said. Afterwards, I let my wife do some massaging with her amazingly strong fingers. Took a small nap and had my lunch.

I hope my buddies are doing okay in the exam. They should be almost done by now. If you're reading this blog, we should totally gather up some time this week!

Anyway, the amazing Mike Stern and Dave Weckl are scheduled to play in next year's Mosaic Music Festival. Jazz lovers around, this is an event not to be missed. Ticket sale's on from this Thursday. More details on www.mosaicmusicfestival.com

The Big Sunday

5 more days to Standard Chartered Marathon and it will be my first ever running event. My team is going to do the 10-K run and I plan to do the same. I said "plan" 'cause I don't think that I am able to do so.

I started doing short runs since 2 months back. Until now my runs are... still short :( I can't seem to break through the 5-K barrier. I even bought a pair of Nike running shoes and Nike plus to track my runs but they only managed to give me motivation to run at the time when I brought them home from the store... *sigh. I can't back out now so I guess I will need to suck it up and just try to do the best I can.

They say you could dedicate your run. Well, I have decided to dedicate my run to 4 of my buddies who would need to tackle the "marathon" of difficult questions this Sunday as well. They are Bachol, Puger, Juanda and Enry and they are going to sit for the CFA Level 1 examination. Good luck guys and may the force be with you!

i'm still green

Second day of blogging and I still haven't made much of a progress in customizing my blog... *sigh

I spent some time hopping from one blog to another this evening just to realize that the phrase "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" still applies although your blog is actually "GREEN-ER" than other people's blog.

Congrats to Fakhrur for being the 1st person to comment on my blog. Unfortunately, your comment about some blog feed is quite useless cause I simply have no idea what you are talking about. (^_^)v

Usually when one creates a blog, one uses it to express an opinion about oneself or others or something else. Also in many cases, people use it as a media to share information. I haven't quite decided yet on what I'm gonna do with my blog but most probably a mixed of both.

will you come and teach me how to blog?

"Okay, okay... I'll create a blog". That was my response to my wife when she asked me to create a blog just so that she could have something else to read online rather than the usual facebook walls, friendster comments and her friends' blogs.

I guess it's really unexpected of me to not have a blog, especially if you knew my family well. Let me break it down for you: my wife is obviously addicted to blogging, my sister won an award (or were there several, sis?) for designing a blog and my brother practically built an online community for bloggers. So, I suppose it's not wrong for me to join in the crowd.

I chose "greentinted60smind" as the address of my blog 'cause it's one of my favorite songs of all time, played by the best band to ever rock this earth "Mr. Big". Actually, a few things came into my mind before I decided to go for that name. I scouted my surroundings looking for clues of what could make a great name ( or at least how I will feel about the name, not necessarily great though) for a blog. First thing I saw was "Gardenia"... *Seriously? A brand of bread product?. And then I saw "Cold Storage"... *Pretty cool.. if I want to sell groceries through my blog. Third thing I saw was my guitar case and immediately the word "Stratocaster" hit me but darn! if only it hadn't been taken, it would've made such a cool name. Not long after that, I imagined myself holding the guitar and playing green-tinted sixties mind. Voila! Ergo the name.

I guess the next thing I should do is to put some links to other people's blogs on this site (I have no idea how to do this by the way). Can someone teach me how to customize my blog?
